New in ARCHLine.XP 2016

IFC export certified by buildingSMART (from 04.04.2016)

Export of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data from ARCHLine.XP 2016 has achieved the certification by the buildingSMART, formerly the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI).

IFC is the international standard exchange format developed and managed by buildingSMART International and not controlled by any single software vendor.
IFC interfaces to export IFC files are fully integrated into ARCHLine.XP 2016.
The certified IFC Export from ARCHLine.XP 2016 will expand the ability of architects and designers to create, manage and exchange BIM models between various software programs.
With this certification  ARCHLine.XP 2016 become an integrated tool for AEC supply chain.

BIM That Works for You

ARCHLine.XP 2016 provides powerful BIM solutions to fit your workflow and address your BIM needs.

With the genuine ARCHLine.XP Open BIM solution you use a complete system that is independent of third party tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Vectorworks and other applications.

ARCHLine.XP is equipped with a fully integrated Open BIM interface and provides the ideal basis for an intelligent and multi-disciplinary data exchange with architects, structural engineers and other project stakeholders.ct.

The standard BIM file format is the IFC, which contains all building information data gathered from or added to the project and this same format can be used during the whole life-span of the building.

IFC is a universal and manufacturer-independent industry standard file format for data exchange.

ARCHLine.XP 2016 support the IFC 2x3 standard file format, which guarantees an efficient and good quality data and model exchange between CAD/BIM applications.

One of the biggest values of the IFC format is that the architectural items keep their types and properties in it. The walls, slabs, and other architectural items remain walls, slabs, etc. with the same properties when you open them in another BIM software - there might be little differences because of technological reasons.

The IFC-based data exchange exceeds the nowadays widely used DXF or DWG based data exchange and this means you can export and import a lot more information using IFC than using the regular drawing file formats.

Woodwork framing design

You can set up detailed settings for the wall structure when designing the woodwork wall framing. You can work with specific layouts defining the distribution rules within the wall and of course you can use any kind of (even custom designed) cross sections.

Setting up the header and sill for the foors and windows is just as easy as defining othere structural items. Changing the size of a door or window will automatically update the inner structure of the wall based on the rules defined.

You can easily store these settings into the so-called styles which makes it very easy to use them in other projects or even share with other designers. Timber frame homes

Cutout - Recess - Attachment - Niche

Recess or niche is a void element hosted in the wall, slab, column and beam, where the thickness of the recess is smaller or equal to the thickness of the wall, slab, column and beam. Recess in wall works similar to window or door when you place it into the wall. You can edit its profile, sill height, texture and distances from the wall endpoints.

Walls
The design method is similar to window or door placement and it is easy to edit them later on. The profile parameters can be set or edited individually. Recess lights can give a spectacular appearance to the room.

Slabs

You can freely edit the contours on the plan. You can easily change the depth of the recess or the attachment or you can create a cutout into the slab.

Beam and Column features

Arched beam

Custom arched beams are commonly used as a design element in trusses. Arched beams allow you to create structural or woodwork designs on vaulted ceilings or archways.

You can create arched beams in vertical and horizontal direction as well.

Column and Beam with parametric recess and cutouts

Column and Beam has been greatly improved with a completely parametric implementation of recess and cut-out. Using the subtraction operations you can have greater control over your wooden or reinforced concrete structures.

3D printing from ARCHLine.XP

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file.
Read more here!
You can export the 3D model in the .STL file format compatible with stereo lithography.
This file format is widely used for rapid prototyping, 3D printing and computer-aided manufacturing to create physical parts and models.
STL files describe only the surface geometry of a three-dimensional object without any representation of color, texture.

How to export 3D model into an STL file
  1. Click File menu > Export.
  2. In the Export Files dialog box, type the file name.
  3. Select StereoLithography (*.stl). in the Save as Type combo box and Click Save.

Tiling with predefined patterns

Laying wall and floor tiles are extended with 4 popular patterns:

  1. Herringbone: each rectangular tile is laid at 90 degrees to the one next to it, creating a "fish bone" pattern
  2. Hexagon: three hexagons meet at each vertex.
  3. Four square finger parquet
  4. Five square finger parquet.

Project Properties

Manage Project information

ARCHLine.XP provides new option for project customization, including standard and user defined Project information parameters. The standard parameters are the following:
  • Issue Date
  • Status
  • Project Name
  • Author
  • Project Number
  • Client Name
  • Project Address
  • Postal Code
  • Project Location
  • Building Type
  • Project Phase

Beside the standard parameters you can add any number of new project related information parameters. Project information parameters are linked to Project Layout Stamp and fills the appropriate fields automatically.

Design Center categories and subcategories

The items in the Design Center are arranged in major categories and subcategories system.
Categories are intended to group together functionally similar items.

The number of major categories are fixed but any number of sub-categories can be created.
The two-levels categorization system makes it possible to organize items into transparent structure to aid navigation.

Compatibility:
Opening projects made by ARCHLine.XP 2015 or earlier versions, the imported items are classified under the category of Other. The Other category is the only one displaying the items in ARCHLine.XP 2015 compatible structure. The sole purpose of this category is the compatibility with earlier versions. You can not create new items under the Other category.

Brands:
The introduction of brands represents a new search facilities. Clicking the Brands button brings up the list of manufacturers belonging to the items in the Design Centre.
You can select one or more manufacturers which allows exclusive search for that items.

PDF printing

The Margin value is editable in case of printing a PDF file.

Open and Close Furnitures

The parametric cabinets can be represented with different representation in 3D one by one:
  • Closed
  • Slightly open
  • Open
  • Without front

Real time mirroring

3D views: real time mirroring and soft shadow

Two shadows mode
In DirectX 11 video mode ARCHLine.XP 2016 can display the 3D model with real-time reflections and two shadow modes .
You can choose from following Shadow representations to visualize the 3D model:
  • Soft shadow
  • Hard shadow
Real time mirroring

Displaying reflection on the glass and mirror surfaces of the 3D model image makes it more realistic.
The reflection is a visual effect that gives the appearance, but not a true reflection. Do not confused it with a high-resolution photo-realistic image calculated with real reflections.
The mirroring feature is available using the default DirectX 11 graphics engine with the textured representation mode.

Bump Mapping

The new predefined bump mapping patterns can be assigned to pure colors and textures either. It appears to be surface roughness. If you look closely, you see lots of detail on it. You can choose among wood, stone, plaster, textile, leather, etc. effects.
Bump mapping effect results infinite number of variations. You can save lot of time because it does not require time-consuming search for the right images on the Internet.

The bump-mapping feature is available using the default DirectX 11 graphics engine with the textured representation mode
