Dorka Pakodi’s Graduation Project – Professional Grand Prize
Dorka Pakodi won 1st place in the Professional category of the Best Graduation Project of the Year competition. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
Introduction
My name is Dorka Pakodi, and I currently work as a landscape architect in Budapest. I completed my interior design studies in June 2025 to expand my experience in exterior design with the knowledge base of interior design. In my opinion, these two fields complement each other exceptionally well, and both are essential for creating a pleasant, harmonious home. For my graduation project, I designed the interior of a family house and its adjacent recreational center. In addition to the imagined client requirements, the final material also reflects my own personal style.
Graduation project summary:
Nature-inspired harmony at home – biophilic spatial design on vintage foundations
During the redesign of the living space, the upper floor was transformed into a functionally well-thought-out yet cozy and nature-inspired environment. Visitors are welcomed by a charming entryway equipped with practical storage solutions and comfortable furnishings. From here opens the guest bathroom, which also accommodates a washing machine and dryer. The young girl’s room functions as a multifunctional space for sleeping, studying, and social gatherings, while the kitchen and dining area form a spacious, shared hub for family life. The living room provides a place for relaxation and social activities, featuring custom furniture and a harmonious layout. The parents’ bedroom includes elegant, functional wardrobes and a comfortable double bed, while the main bathroom is designed to promote relaxation. The home office offers a calm, inspiring environment, and the young boy’s space-themed room brings a playful, imaginative atmosphere to life. During the design process, the wet rooms remained in their original locations, and wall restructuring was kept to a minimum. The biophilic vintage style creates harmony through natural materials, wooden surfaces, and greenery. Beige, brown, and green tones establish a warm, tranquil ambience, complemented by glass light fixtures and carefully selected finishes.
