Introduction
My name is Tamara Tihany. I am an interior designer and a passionate advocate of home-making and DIY solutions. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a cozy, lovable living space that reflects their personality and supports them in their everyday life. It is important to me that interiors are not only aesthetic and functional, but that they also tell a story. I love rethinking and restoring old objects and furniture, because I believe this makes an interior not only unique but richer and more personal as well.
Graduation project summary:
Tradition and modern elegance: a timeless family home
This two-story interior design project was created for a middle-aged intellectual couple and their 17-year-old son, offering a perfect balance between family togetherness and individual independence. The ground floor houses bright, spacious communal areas and the parents’ bedroom, while the upper floor serves as the son’s private living space, complete with dedicated study and relaxation zones and a multifunctional lounge ideal for shared activities. In the urban setting, a rooftop green terrace provides a tranquil, nature-inspired retreat. The style of the home is defined by the harmony of tradition and modern elegance: antique furniture, contemporary elements, earthy tones, and Transylvanian motifs blend with the fine luxury of noble materials such as walnut wood, marble, and velvet. The result is a timeless, emotionally rich home where intergenerational harmony is truly embodied in the space.
